Banded Female #2863.This bird is 16 years old, one of the oldest in the colony. She has breed most of the previous years but not always at Cape Royds and not last year. She was sighted at Cape Crozier in 2005, but then returned to Royds. She and her mate are in the Hilton Group and surrounded by other birds that will help fend off the Skuas.
This pair will be named Hope and Pommes by the students in Emma Briddle-Huard's class at College de Baous, France, and the students in Reinhard Marx's class at REalschule Sundern, Germany.
First egg was sighted on Nov 12.
Jan 15, 2018. Hope and Pommes produced one very large and healthy chick. We will look for the parents next year and the chick in about 4 years.
