Nest #8 status and archive, 2017-18
Female band #72364 and Male #2363. This is unusual for two banded birds to mate and build a nest. This older male (18 years) has mated with other banded females in the past and in this nesting group. Some of the nests failed but some raised strong chicks. The female is only 4 years old so this is her first time raising chicks. Both these birds are new to our study so let's see what happens. Mr. Chris' 2nd grade class at Walker-Winter Elementary School in Canton Michigan has named this pair Oreo and Cookie.
Female arrived on Nov 10
First egg was seen on Nov 17th, 2017.
Jan 15, 2018. This nest produced 2 big chicks. We will look for the adults next season and the chicks in about 4 years.
