Banded Bird #62888, Female
This banded female is 6 years old, we do not know how old her partner is, and they are new to our study. She was first seen in the colony in 2015, but did not breed that year. They have a very secure nest in the Cliffs and lots of neighbors. The male is Rico and she is Snowball. They were named by the 7th graders in Mrs Poknis' class at Thomas Viaduct Middle School, Howard Co., Maryland.
The chicks have been named Dora and Diego by the students in Anne Schoeffler's 7th grade class at Seton Catholic School, Hudson, OH
First egg: Nov 13th, 2018, Second egg: Nov 15th.
FIrst chick to hatch: Both chicks hatched on Dec 15, 2018 ( 35 days after being laid)
Jan 17, 2019. This is our last picture of Dora and Diego. They are on the nest waiting for the parents to bring them food. These are two big and fat chicks, we are glad to see that and wish them a long and healthy penguin life.
