This bird has been in our study for 5 out of the 6 last seasons, click HERE to see the stories. They have been successful in raising chicks, but not every year. In each year he has built his nest in the exact same location, and probably has the same mate. They arrived early this year and have a well buit nest. He is 11 years old. We do not know how old his mate is. The first chick has been named Sevgi which means 'love' in Turkish by the students at Ahmet Erdem Anatolian High School in Bursa, Turkey. The second chick is Mukki, which means 'child' or 'little one in the Algonquian language and was named by the third graders in the Gilman School, Baltimore, Maryland. They want to honor the Native Americans from the Chesapeake Bay, and the Algonquian people.

Jan 17, 2019. This is our last picture of Sevgi and Mukki. We left them on the nest waiting for theri next meal. These are big healthy chicks, we wish them a long and happy penguin life.
