Nest #3, 2018-19
Banded Bird #3809, Female
This bird was in our study last year and raised one healthy chick. The pair have made a nest a few feet away from the previous nest. Click HERE to see last years story. She is now 15 years old and an experienced parent. We do not know how old her partner is. The nest is in the Rocks breeding group and very protected from the predation of Skuas. Lets see how this season unfolds. This pair have been named Hunter and Icicle by the 5th Grade students in Nikki Schaefer's class at Scott ES, Scott Air Force Base, IL.
The chick has been named Apollo by the students in Effie Kyrikakis' class at the Aegean University, Haidari, Greece.
First egg: Nov 9th, 2018, Second egg: Nov 11, 2018
First chick hatched Nov 14, 2018, Second chick on Dec 16, 2018
Jan 17, 2019. This nest produced one big chick, Apollo. The nest is very secure in the rocks so this is a good location for raising chicks.
