Nest #4, 2018-19

Banded Bird #4202, Male

This bird has raised chicks in the past and has been in this exact nesting site for the last 4 years. We do not know if it is the same mate as previous years or not. He is wearing one of our geo-location trackers on his leg so we can follow his travels for one year These penguins have been named by the Biology students - from Staedtische Realschule Sundern, Germany, and their teacher Reinhard Marx. They are Kyle and Tori.

First egg: Nov 12, 2018, only one egg was laid

Dec 6, The nest has failed. Kyle stayed in the colony for 35 days without food or water, he could not wait for Tori any longer. The egg was taken within minutes

Jan 15, 2019. We saw Kyle one more time this season. He came back and rested in his nest for just one day and then was off. We did not see him again. He is one of my favorite birds, so I will look for him next year. Check back with us in Nov 2019.

Today the rocks are gone.		Kyle returned, He is resting on his nest, perhaps he will come back next year.
