Nest #7, 2018-19

Banded Bird #29809, Male

This male was in our study in both 2014 and 2016. He is a good parent and 11 years old this year. We do not know if he hast teh same mate but he is on the same nest site, so perhaps. In 2016 the first egg was laid Nov 14, this year it was Nov 10, so these penguins have started the season earlier. These two penguins are named Harper and Declan, by penguin loving students at John Dooley ES in Henderson, NV.

First egg: Nov 10, 2018

First chick hatched: Dec 15, the second one on Dec 16, 2018. Their names are Pela and Carson, two girls.

Jan 15, 2019. Our last picture of this nest. The chicks have joined the other chicks in a crech and I can no longer tell which ones are ours. They are being fed and will be on their own soon. Check back with us in Nov 2019 to see if this breeding pair returns to Cape Royds.
