Nest #8, 2018-19
Banded Bird #2362, Male
This male was in our study last year and was Nest #8. He is 19 years old, the oldest bird in the colony. Click HERE if youwant to see the 2017-18 story. He and his mate raised 2 healthy chicks. This year he has built a new nest very near where he was last year and has a new mate. We do not know how old she is. They are in the Cliff Breeding group. The parents names are Ocean and Galatea, submitted by the students in Effie Kyrikakis' class at the Aegean University, Haidari, Greece.
THe chick has been named Waddles by the 6th graders in Old Hammondtown ES, Mattapoisett, MA.

Jan 17, 2019. This is our last picture of Waddles and his parents. Ocean and Galatea were very strong parents and this is a big healthy chick. We will not know what happens to Waddles, but wish him a long and happy penguin life.
